FREE  Microsoft Digital Literacy Classes to download onto your computer

If your default Internet browser is not Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can right click on the class Icon and choose Internet Explorer to run the program.  These programs must be run using Microsoft Internet Explorer.

The Digital Literacy Curriculum consists of five courses:

Computer Basics
The Internet and the World Wide Web
Productivity Programs
Computer Security and Privacy
Digital Lifestyles

Each course has an e-learning module and an assessment. You can also take the Certificate Test, which covers topics from all five courses. If you pass the Certificate Test, you can print out a personalized Digital Literacy Certificate.

This original version teaches generic ICT skills and concepts, and features screen shots and simulations from Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 to illustrate and provide hands-on examples for students.

For these computer educational classes to work on your computer, all XP upgrades must be installed on your computer.

What started out as Sal making a few algebra videos for his cousins has grown to over 2,100 videos and 100 self-paced exercises and assessments covering everything from arithmetic to physics, finance, and history.

Online Khan Academy

A lot of struggling math students have found comfort in the mathematical stylings of Salman Khan.

A few years back, Khan started creating videos to help tutor his cousin in math. Those videos became so popular, he quit his job with a hedge fund to work on them full time. Now his online Khan Academy offers more than 2,100 videos and attracts scads of teachers and students. And some adventurous school districts are trying to bring Khan's approach into the classroom.

This download includes a simple batch file (mvps.bat) (click on that file when its downloaded) that will rename the existing HOSTS file to HOSTS.MVP then copy the included updated HOSTS file to the proper location. For more information please see the readme.txt included in the download.
Before downloading file, read information below.
When you run the (mvps.bat) batch file XP users may see a prompt, simply click Run and continue. Once updated you should see another prompt that the task was completed. Some users may see a pop-up from certain Security programs about changes to the HOSTS file. Allow the change ... however if you see this pop-up at any other time ... investigate.
